Getting Down To Business

As you can tell from my advertising on the side, I have started an Etsy shop for my children's wall art.  This is something I really enjoy when I do it but when I don't have many orders and I stop working on it awhile then it is really hard to get back into it once I stop!  I guess it's kind of like exercising, when I'm doing it and I get into it I really enjoy it but when I stop for a few days then it's almost impossible to start up again!  Ok, that's a really bad example as I would much rather paint than exercise!!

My Etsy shop has sold absolutely nothing as of this time today.  I know I don't put the time or the energy into advertising it.  I also don't have enough items listed.  I have sold my paintings in other ways such as through Facebook.  I think if I just keep plugging along and actually put some effort into it, I might get somewhere!  But how to focus on doing this? Same with the blog.  I would love for this blog to go far and wide but it also takes a lot of effort!  I'm still learning the ropes and when I figure them out, maybe I'll put those steps into an ebook or something.  It's all babysteps but I hope to eventually make enough money to quit my day job!

Fun Times

This past week has been a whirlwind for our family!  My parents came for a visit (they live about 14 hours from us so we only get to see them 2-3 times a year) and the kids had a blast with their grandparents. It was nice for my husband and I as well since we got a date night out of it.  Also, my mom is so much better at keeping up with laundry and dishes than I am so I get a fairly clean house for a few days when they are here!

My son (I will call him Buddy for the purposes of this blog), who is 5, thinks that every time my parents come they have to take him to the local children's museum.  However, he called it the dinosaur center instead of the museum.  All I heard all week is "are we going to the dinosaur center today?"  Finally, on their last full day here we went.  My daughter (Ladybug), who is 2, is just now really getting to know grandma and grandpa. She has learned that if she grabs their hand and tells them to "c'mon" they will pretty much go and do whatever it is she wants.  She has them wrapped around her little finger!

We also bought a car this week and are in the process of selling one of our other cars so dealing with all that has been interesting.  Not something I really care to do very often but since we are trying to lower our debt, this is one of the things we felt we had to do.  We are selling a car we still owe a lot of money on, buying an older but still running car for about $5,000 less than we owe on our other car.  This way we will have it paid off sooner.  Luckily, my husband is pretty handy and can fix a lot of the things that go wrong with an older car.

My work computer also crashed this week.  That's always great when you work from home(*note the sarcasm*).  No work computer=not working my shift=no pay.  That is not good.  Hoping the new computer gets here before my scheduled shift Monday evening!

Marshmallow Surprises

So my husband called me on his way home from work.  He told me he had to stop by the store for a surprise.  My parents are coming for a visit this weekend so I figured maybe he was trying to make himself look good or something and was going to bring home some flowers for me for the first time in 5 years or so.  I was kind of excited as the house is almost clean (which doesn't seem to happen often at my house) and I thought some pretty flowers would be a nice touch.

About 30 minutes later I heard the door open, I was downstairs and he went upstairs.  I'm thinking "oh, he must be putting them in a vase for me!"  A few minutes later, he comes down the stairs and around the corner and I hear a "POP" and a marshmallow comes flying at me from a marshmallow gun and hits me smack in the cheek.  Yeah, I didn't get my flowers.  But, at least it gave my husband and my son a good laugh!

Where Do I Start?

I have been trying to enter the blogging world for quite some time but haven't quite found my niche yet.  So I've decided to be me and that's all.  I'm a mom of two. I'm a wife. I'm a nurse (although a burnt out one). I'm somebody who has moved so many times in life that I'm not sure how to stay in one spot for very long.  I've changed jobs about every 2 years since I left college.  I've changed churches a few times in the past several years due to either moving or just getting antsy and wanting something new.  My husband and I have been married for 9.5 years and have lived in 7 different homes in 4 different cities during that time!  Growing up my dad became a pastor when I was 16 years old, before I got married I lived in 5 different states. Some people are scared of change but I'm scared of staying the same!

For the past 4 years we have lived back in my husband's hometown.  Besides college, which I don't really count since my parents moved 3 times while I was in college so going "home" for breaks was always a new experience, I have not lived anywhere for a 4 year period in about 17 years!  So, as I try to make myself a real home and learn to accept staying put I am going to blog about my adventures in mommy-hood, and try to learn how to be content in whatever life brings!

My blog name stems from my past dreams that have come true, my current dreams which I hope to come true and whatever my future dreams are. I have always wanted to be a wife and mommy and those happy dreams have come true.  I have always wanted to be a stay at home mommy who gets to be very involved in my kids' lives.  That is only partially true now and continues to be a current dream (I will get into that more on a later day).  I also dream my kids will grow up to be happy and successful, that dream will take many years to occur as they are only 2 and 5 years old!  I also have started a business on the side, currently I have started painting children's wall art but if things go well I plan on expanding that business into other art/craft areas.

Hopefully my blog will entertain those who read it.  My life is FAR from perfect, I am definitely not June Cleaver!  I look forward to getting to know you as readers well.  If you stumble across my blog, I would love for you to follow me and I will do my best to follow you back if you have a blog as well!
